About Battery Information
Introduction
This page reads battery level and charging state only when the browser still allows the Battery Status API. Many browsers removed or restricted it for privacy. If you see “unsupported,” that is expected — not a DeviceHub failure.
What this tool does
When available, it shows charge level, charging yes/no, and time estimates the browser provides. When unavailable, it says so clearly.
When to use it
Use it for a quick browser-visible battery snapshot on Chromium laptops. Prefer the OS battery icon when the API is missing.
How it works
Supported: some Chromium desktop builds. Unsupported or blocked: Firefox and Safari in most cases, and increasingly other engines. Why: battery data can aid tracking, so browsers limited it. Permissions: usually none beyond loading the page. Hardware: a device with a battery (laptops/phones); desktops may report odd or empty values. Expected: either live level/charging rows, or an honest unsupported state.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open Battery Information on the device you care about.
- Read level and charging if the API responds.
- If unsupported, check your OS battery UI instead.
Common problems
Unsupported on Firefox/Safari is normal. Plugged-in desktops may show incomplete data.
Privacy explanation
Readings stay in your browser session. DeviceHub does not upload battery level.
